General Terms and Conditions (GTC)

GTC for mint & pepper leisure activity events

§ 1 Base

  1. With an application or admission to or participation in a mint & pepper event and for all resulting contractual relationships between the organizer and the purchaser of a ticket or the participant of an event, the following General Terms and Conditions (GTC) shall apply.
  2. The organizer is ETH Zurich, mint & pepper, Weinbergstrasse 35, 8092 Zurich, hereinafter referred to as the “organiser”.
  3. With the application and admission to an event or by acquiring or using a ticket, the applicant, byer or holder of a ticket accepts:
  • these GTC
  • any applicable GTC at the respective venue

§ 2 Registration

  1. Only children and teenagers in the stipulated age category are eligible to participate.
  2. Any allergies, health impairments, etc. must be notified to the organizer in writing at the time of registration.
  3. With the registration, the legal guardian gives consent to the participation of the child being registered.

§ 3 Cancellation

  1. May the participant be unable to attend, he/she may send a substitute in the case of an event with ticket purchase. However, the organizer must be informed, in writing, before the start of the event. In the case of an event with application and admission, such as Wyss Zurich BioSTARS, this is not possible.

§ 4 Rescheduling the event

  1. The organizer has the right to make changes regarding the date, time and place of the event in case of an unforeseeable event, such as force majeure, for safety reasons or on the instruction of a regulatory agency. If the organizer reschedules the event or changes the venue for any of the above reasons, the ticket remains valid for the postponed date or for the new venue.
  2. In case of cancellation of the entire event, the full amount will be refunded in case of a ticket purchase. In the case of an event with application and admission, a refund is not applicable.

§ 5 Obligations of the participants

  1. Instructions from the organizer, or subcontractors acting on behalf of the organizer, must be followed at all times. Namely, instructions that serve safety or pursue specific teaching objectives. Non-compliance with instructions may lead to the immediate exclusion of participants without a refund of the registration fee. The organizer reserves the right to claim for damages.
  2. Participants whose behavior recurrently compromises the good running of the event, may be excluded from further participation, without a refund of the registration fee.

§ 6 Liability/ insurance cover

  1. Participants take part in the event at their own risk, accident insurance is not covered by the organizer. The participants or their legal guardians must independently ensure sufficient insurance coverage (e.g. liability insurance, accident insurance).
  2. The organizer accepts no liability whatsoever for material damage, personal injury or financial loss in connection with the organization and implementation of the event. Unless the damage is due to intentional or grossly negligent conduct of the organizer or its subcontractors.

§ 7 Communication

  1. Each participant or his/her legal guardian irrevocably consents to the current and future media use of his/her image and voice, by the ETH Zurich as well as the University of Zurich and their partners, free of charge. This applies to all communication purposes. Namely, photographs, live transmissions, broadcasts and/or recordings (images and/or sound) made by the organizer or its subcontractors in the context of the event. If a participant does not agree with a recording, he/she shall immediately inform the photographer. The recording will then be waived, respectively deleted.
  2. If a participant does not agree with a photograph, he/she will inform the photographer immediately on site. The photograph will then be waived or deleted.

§ 8 Applicable law and place of jurisdiction

  1. The parties shall first seek to resolve disputes amicably.
  2. Swiss law is applicable. The place of jurisdiction is Zurich.

GTC for mint & pepper events in school lessons

§ 1 Base

  1. The following General Terms and Conditions (GTC) apply in the context of the written or spoken booking of a mint & pepper module.
  2. By booking a module (hereinafter "event"), the teacher accepts the GTC.
  3. The organizer is ETH Zurich, mint & pepper, Weinbergstrasse 35, 8092 Zurich, hereafter referred to as the “organizer”.

§ 2 Module execution

  1. The teacher is present during the entire event.

  2. The organizer’s subcontractors (module instructors) bring all necessary material on site and carry out the module. Yet, the responsibility of the children or students remains with the teacher.

§ 3 Cancellation

  1. The client/teacher can cancel the event free of charge, up to 1 week before the event starts. If an event is cancelled any later, 50% of the module costs will be charged as indemnity for our running costs. In the event of a cancellation less than 48 hours before the event starts, the full amount will be charged and an invoice issued.

§ 4 Rescheduling the event

  2. In case of cancellation of the entire event, the full amount will be refunded.

  1. The teacher carries the liability for the class, respectively for the pupils during the entire duration of the event.

  2. The teacher is on site during the entire duration of the event.

  3. Participants take part in the event at their own risk, accident insurance is not covered by the organizer. The participants must independently ensure sufficient insurance coverage (e.g. liability insurance, accident insurance).

  4. The organizer accepts no liability whatsoever for material damage, personal injury or financial loss in connection with the organization and implementation of the event. Unless the damage is due to intentional or grossly negligent conduct of the organizer or its subcontractors.
